I (Lisa) have loved animals and worked with them ever since childhood, so it’s been no surprise to anyone who knows me that I became fully immersed in raising Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs! As a child I had family members who responsibly raised purebred dogs, and it came naturally to start raising and showing them myself when I found a breed I was passionate about.
For me, this breed is “The One”. They seem different than other dogs somehow, like they crave a deeper connection with their people, and I haven’t found another breed that can compare.
When I first learned about the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog I couldn’t believe they weren’t more well known! They ticked all the boxes for our family; loyal, good with children and other pets, medium energy level, low grooming needs, trainable, and a big goofy personality with striking good looks. They can be a comforting presence around the home, and can go quickly from sharing a hike to watching a movie on the couch together. Swissies want to be part of things with their family; they are happiest doing whatever their people are doing, and this is what we wanted in our dogs ~ Family members.
I get so much satisfaction from watching a dog we’ve raised move effortlessly and beautifully across the backyard, or by helping a family unite with their new best friend. I feel that dogs are a gateway to a connection with the natural world for many people, and sometimes they are the only real, meaningful relationship a person has in their life.
Since 2019 we have raised some of the Top Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs in Canada, and we love to help educate the public about our breed at venues such as the Royal Winter Fair and the Canadian Pet Expo. We often travel to the USA to compete in AKC confirmation shows and attend the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog Club of America National Speciality, so we can see how our dogs compare to other high quality Swissies. We network with other responsible breeders, so we can include some of the best GSMDs in North America in our breeding program, and gain knowledge through their insights. These experiences along with an ongoing curiosity and love of learning about our breed, have helped us to produce the highest quality Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs available within Canada.
Noble Night is a Preservation breeder of Greater Swiss Mountain Dogs. This means we aim to produce beautiful, healthy, loyal companions to share life with, while staying true to the Breed Standard and their working dog heritage, always keeping the welfare of the breed top of mind.
Swissies are a rare breed that needs the help of responsible breeders if they are to continue living in this world, and that’s why it’s so important for us to do the work of helping to preserve them; a world without Swissies would be a little less bright!
We love taking part in the creation of new life, and helping to build relationships between these wonderful dogs and their new families. Creating lasting connections is our goal, by bringing love and joy into the world one puppy at a time 💕
